Tax Manager (part time)

Purpose: 

Responsible for overseeing all tax matters other than property tax.

Job Functions:

  1. Manager internal preparation for various returns
  2. Coordinate income tax return compliance, prepared by external big 4 firm
  3. Manage tax planning and tax inquires/matters
  4. Analyze tax inquires and responds to resolve matters timely (voluntary disclosure programs and other alternatives)
  5. Collaborate on tax matters related to M&A transactions - buyer and seller considerations
  6. Research tax questions and respond with technical and business impacts
  7. Collaborate on tax matters with company investors
  8. Plan and execute to meet deadlines, both financial and tax
  9. Collaborate on ad-hoc or recurring project teams to prepare various analysis for enhancement of the business
  10. Identify patterns of weakness or exposure to error, diagnose the issues, design and implement process improvements to address weaknesses or other opportunities.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands: 

Position will work directly from the corporate office.  Candidate must have the flexibility to occasionally work overtime, including weekends. 

Qualifications:

  1. Must have a 4 year college degree in Accounting with a tax concentration.  CPA preferred.
  2. At least 8 years total work experience
  3. Prefer big 4 experience, combined with at least 5 years industry experience
  4. Experience with various types of tax: income, franchise, sales & use
  5. Prefer experience in tax matters for pass-through entities such as partnerships and LLCs
  6. Prefer industry specialization: real estate, REITs, leasing
  7. Strong working knowledge of tax compliance requirements
  8. Ability to work in fast-paced, high-growth changing environment
  9. Ability to balance need for discipline with flexibility
  10. Ability to identify "what matters" or makes a difference
  11. Team-oriented, and self motivated, inquisitive
  12. Interest & knowledge of how overall business works and how tax interacts with other financing and business decisions.
  13. Analytical and critical thinking skills
